PROJECT:
[ project statement ]
(m)other. began as a meditation on womanhood and the forest as a symbolic space. These images, which feature in the book of the same name, take a more focused path into the often silent terrain of infertility.
A reduced palette of black and white reflects the binary nature of fertility, with a recurring motif of the colour red to symbolise what is felt but cannot be seen. Conversations between image and graphic intervention echo the psychological landscape of navigating the journey to motherhood, and the liminal space when the path is problematic.
